Risks
Most sessions finish with temporary redness. Lasting pigment change is the main serious cosmetic risk on brown skin when settings are wrong.
Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (dark marks) and hypopigmentation (light patches) can follow laser on pigmented skin, especially after recent sun, wrong wavelength, or energy set too high. Blisters and crusting should not be treated as normal. On Pakistani and South Asian skin, face and forearms are high-risk zones because they tan easily in Islamabad sun.

Strong sun is normal here. It still conflicts with safe laser timing on exposed skin.
Many courses pause or slow down in peak summer when face, arms, or legs cannot stay out of sun between visits. Covered areas such as underarms are easier to treat year-round. One tanned forearm does not mean the whole body must stop, but the tanned zone should wait until pigment settles.

Lasting light patches are an uncommon complication when settings are wrong, not an intended outcome. Temporary darkening after treatment can happen and usually fades if aftercare and sun rules are followed.
IPL can work for some medium skin tones with very conservative settings and an experienced operator, but it has a narrower safety margin than Nd:YAG on deeper tones. Ask why IPL is proposed if a medical laser is available.
